KS1 and Reception embarked on their Summer Welly Walk this week and also incorporated a bit of R.E and Science at the same time. It was glorious sunshine so the children managed to get a real sense of what a proper summer is like in the village. We visited the church looking for signs and symbols of Christian worship and the children loved the opportunity to really study parts of the church. They were very observant and even had a try in the gallery although some only managed to sit on the back row. After investigating the churchyard we took a trip to Mrs Hobohm’s back garden and were treated to an ice pop. The children then embarked on a mini beast hunt and found all sorts of creepy crawlies. It is a real gardener’s retreat and it was the perfect place for finding everything on our list apart from the elusive ladybird! We returned to school just in time for lunch, a perfect morning of outdoor learning and investigation.
