We had a really special collective worship assembly this week which focused on the power of prayer. We encouraged the children to reflect on why we might pray for people. They amazed us all by their sensitive responses. These included prayers for family members to get better, prayers thanking God for their parents, prayers for people to persevere in situations and prayers for people who had experienced bereavement. We then gave them the opportunity to select a particular coloured ribbon that best represented that family member, to hold it and say a quiet prayer and then to attach it to the fence in our outdoor quiet area. The task was optional but our children were so stirred by the idea that the box of ribbons was soon empty.
