I hope you all had an enjoyable and relaxing half-term.
Thank you to everyone who attended our May Day dancing event at the end of last term. It was another wonderful occasion, with hearty singing from the children and ambitious dances. It was wonderful to see so many parents, grandparents and visitors participating in the Pat-a-Cake Polka at the end. The ‘Community’ aspect of our values was certainly evident. We were also blessed with the weather. Check out some of the photos on our website. May I say a huge thank you to FOHS for serving refreshments and selling raffle tickets during the event. They raised £304 for school funds.
We’ve only been back a week and what a week it’s been! Y6 attended the Church School’s festival and were fantastic ambassadors for the school. While they were there, the whole school had the annual challenge of swapping classrooms and erecting the stage. Rehearsals are now in full swing!
Yesterday sixteen children represented the school at the Centurion Sports Tournament at Sturton. It was the first outing of the brand new football strip and we had numerous comments about how smart the children looked. All of them showed great determination and teamwork throughout the tournament, despite tough opposition. We value sporting opportunities and are always looking at ways of providing more activities for the children. With this in mind, we are delighted to inform you that we have appointed a very keen sportsman to work with the children all year in the new position of PE and Sports apprentice.

Key Stage 2 Production – 7.00pm Tuesday 18 & Thursday 20 June
This year’s KS2 production is ‘Mystery at Magpie Manor’. Set in the 1920s and steeped in legend and intrigue, Magpie Manor is in a great state of disrepair and Lord and Lady Pica must take drastic action to save their crumbling manor house. The clan is gathered together with Mr Fortune the bank manager and his bumbling assistants who come up with a plan to sell off the family silver. But as the rich and famous guests arrive for the auction ball, strange things are occurring and when the family heirloom is unveiled, it has disappeared! Inspector Spectre is straight on the case, aided by none other than Agatha Christie, and it seems that everyone has a motive. But will the thief be caught and can Magpie Manor be rescued from impending disaster?
Tickets will be available shortly from the school office. Book early to avoid disappointment as there will be no ticket sales on the door on either night! Tickets cost £1.
This year FOHS will be selling refreshments prior to the performances. Please drop off your children between 6.30-6.45pm at the main door and then make your way round to the outdoor area of KS1 where drinks will be available. This will also be the way into the hall.

Sports Activities at Sturton Primary School – Tuesday 16 July
As part of our Centurion partnership enrichment programme we will be attending a fun sports day at Sturton primary school. All seven schools in our partnership will attend the event. It will be the same format as last year. KS2 pupils will attend the morning session between 10 – 12.10pm completing six activities and then KS1 will attend the afternoon session from 12.45 – 2.30pm. They will participate in five activities. Please ensure that your child has their correct PE kit in school on that day, a sunhat and a bottle of water. KS2 pupils may arrive in their sports kit. KS1 pupils will change into their kit after lunch (please ensure it is in school for Monday). It is important that all children wear the new style T-shirt (maroon colour) so they are easily identifiable amongst the seven other schools. School is covering the cost of transport on this occasion, but please complete and return the permission slip for your child as soon as possible. (available in pdf version)
