Keeping ICT Safe

Rules for Responsible Internet Use

In Hackthorn School we have computers and Internet access to help our learning.

These rules will keep everyone safe and help us be fair to others.

Ø     I will ask permission from a teacher before using the Internet

Ø     I will always make sure a teacher can see the screen

Ø     I will only use my own login and password, which I will keep secret

Ø     I will not access other people’s files

Ø     I will use the computers only for school activities

Ø     I will not bring memory sticks into school unless I have permission

Ø     I will only e-mail people I know, or my teacher has approved

Ø     The messages I send will be polite and sensible

Ø     I will not give my home address or telephone number, or arrange to meet someone, unless my parent, carer or teacher has given permission

Ø     I will not open any e-mails or attachments from people I do not know

Ø     To help protect other pupils and myself, I will tell a teacher IMMEDIATELY if I see anything I am unhappy with or I receive messages I do not like

Ø     I understand that the school may check my computer files and may monitor the Internet sites I visit.
